If you enjoy exploring nature, this excursion to Montanejos offers an opportunity to discover a thermal village in Castellón. Experience a scenic hike followed by a refreshing swim in the natural thermal pools located at Fuente de los Baños.
Details of the Day Trip
Our adventure begins at the designated spot on Calle Ramón Llull, 21. From this starting point in Valencia, we will set off towards the north.
After approximately 1.5 hours of travel, we will reach Montanejos, a charming thermal community nestled in the Alto Mijares region of Castellón.
Upon arrival, we'll embark on a brief walk around the town to visit the renowned Fuente de los Baños spa pools. The water in this area maintains a consistent temperature of 23ºC (73ºF) throughout the year and is rich in minerals that promote relaxation and well-being. According to local legend, these pools were commissioned by the Muslim King Abu Zeit to enhance the beauty of his wives.
Following this, we will begin a hiking trail that unveils the breathtaking natural landscape of the region. For a duration of 4 hours, we'll walk along the banks of the River Mijares, first visiting Cueva Negra, an impressive cave known for its geological significance. This cave is a prominent feature within the Valencian Community.
During our hike, prepare to admire the stunning mountain vistas that envelop Montanejos, including the poignant Mijares Canyon and the Cirat Dam.
Our hiking journey will culminate back at the Fuente de los Baños spa pools, where you will enjoy 1.5 hours of leisure time to relax in the natural waters, perfect for a revitalizing swim. Feel free to use this time to enjoy any snacks you've packed.
In conclusion, we will regroup and stroll back to the heart of Montanejos. From there, we will transport you back to the meeting point in Valencia, wrapping up this enriching 8.5-hour day trip.
