Carmona Day Trip
Starting our journey along Rasro Street, we embark towards Carmona.
After approximately 30 minutes of travel, we will reach this remarkable town, celebrated for winning the bronze medal in the most charming village in Andalucía in 2015. Our visit will take us back to the medieval era as we explore the remnants of the Fortress of San Pedro, which has been impeccably preserved through an extensive restoration.
Our exploration continues with a leisurely walking tour of the historical center, encompassing the Cordoba Gate and Sevilla Gate, allowing us to stroll through San Fernando and Blas Infante squares. Throughout this journey, we will unveil the gothic, Muslim, and baroque influences reflected in the architecture of the churches of San Bartolomé and San Pedro.
However, we won't stop there; we will dive even deeper into history by visiting the Roman necropolis of Carmona, recognized as one of the finest examples in the Seville region. This site houses various sacred remains of significant relevance, including the Elephant Tomb, named for a stone sculpture of an elephant discovered here, which served as a focal point for the worship of the god Mitra.
Our day concludes as we return to Sevilla by bus, arriving approximately four hours later.
