Discover the secrets and history of the over 900-year-old church in the heart of London with the Westminster Abbey Tickets. It has been the site of all British monarch coronations since the 11th century and a burial ground for numerous historical figures.
Description
Visiting Westminster Abbey is essential for those wanting to grasp British history. The church receives over one million visitors annually, where every British monarch has been coronated since William the Conqueror in 1066. Princess Diana’s funeral was held here, and Prince William and Kate Middleton were married within its walls.
Visitors will appreciate the Gothic architecture and can explore the Lady Chapel while using an English audio guide. The Coronation Chair, used in ceremonies since 1308, is also a highlight.
The Abbey houses the tombs of various historical figures, including kings, queens, statesmen, writers, poets, and scientists. In Poet’s Corner, notable literary figures like Charles Dickens and Jane Austen are commemorated. The grave of the Unknown Warrior honors those who fell in the First World War.
