Immerse yourself in the rich heritage of British royalty on this day excursion to Windsor Castle, complemented by a guided visit to the Tower of London, with admission included. Experience two of the most significant sites in the United Kingdom!
Details of the Day Trip
At the agreed meeting point in central London, we will embark on this day journey to Windsor Castle, followed by a tour of the Tower of London, renowned for its historical significance. Are you ready to uncover the stories of British royalty?
Our journey begins with a comfortable one-hour bus ride to Windsor Castle, the official home of King Charles III. This majestic site holds the title of the oldest and largest continually inhabited castle in the world. Within the lower ward, we will appreciate the stunning St. George's Chapel, a masterpiece of English Perpendicular Gothic architecture dating back to the 15th century. This chapel is traditionally where royal weddings occur and serves as the final resting place for eleven monarchs, including Queen Elizabeth II and Henry VIII. Additionally, we will explore the exquisite state apartments from the early 19th century. Remember to snap some photos!
Subsequently, we will make our way back to the city to visit the historic Tower of London. After approximately 1.5 hours of travel, we will arrive at this UNESCO World Heritage site, rich in fascinating but somber history. Situated along the north bank of the River Thames, we’ll follow the paths once tread by prisoners, queens, and executioners in this storied fortress and castle.
Here, we will marvel at the striking Crown Jewels of England, a collection of royal ceremonial artifacts, which includes the regalia used in coronations and the vestments worn by British royalty. These treasures are under the vigilant watch of the Yeoman Warders, commonly referred to as Beefeaters. Additionally, we’ll take a moment to explore the notorious Tower Green, a site historically associated with executions.
Our journey will come to an end approximately 7 hours after the beginning, allowing you the freedom to further explore the area at your leisure, soaking up the weight of its history.
