The Royal Palace and Almudena Cathedral stand as two of the most significant monuments in Madrid. Join this intimate group tour to delve into the rich history surrounding these landmarks.
Tour Overview
We will convene at the designated meeting point in the remarkable Plaza de Ópera. Once everyone has gathered, our in-depth guided exploration of two of the city’s architectural gems—the Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral—will commence.
The journey begins at the Royal Palace, renowned as one of the largest royal residences in Europe, featuring an impressive total of 3,418 rooms, surpassing even Versailles and Buckingham Palace.
Inside this Baroque marvel, we will discover the opulent main rooms, including the breathtaking Throne Room adorned with Tiepolo's frescoes, the grand Main Staircase, the impressive Column Hall, and the serene Chapel.
Immediately opposite the Royal Palace, you will find the Almudena Cathedral. It’s fascinating to note that its construction spanned over 110 years, with architectural styles evolving across three distinct phases. We will discuss intriguing anecdotes and the controversy surrounding its design as we admire its exterior.
After a thorough exploration lasting approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, we will conclude our experience at the side entrance of the Almudena Cathedral.
