Day Trip Overview
Our journey commences at Calle Mesón de Paños, 15, where we will meet at the designated time. From there, we will board a comfortable coach that takes us to Ávila and Salamanca, both recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Our first destination is Salamanca, celebrated as Spain's most distinguished Renaissance city. Here, you will navigate its charming cobbled streets, arriving at the Plaza Mayor, an extraordinary square noted as one of Europe’s finest.
Next, we will proceed to Plaza de Anaya, where you can take in the grandeur of the city’s two cathedrals: the New Cathedral of Salamanca and the Old Cathedral of Salamanca. This area is also home to the University of Salamanca, a prestigious institution attracting thousands of international students each year. Be sure to search for the renowned frog cleverly hidden on the building's façade.
You will have approximately one hour for lunch at your leisure, and your guide will suggest excellent spots to sample traditional Spanish dishes.
After your meal, we will travel to Ávila, famed for its medieval fortifications. As you tour this historical town, you will be awed by the exterior of the Ávila Cathedral, a remarkable fortified church dating back to the 12th century. Additionally, we will visit the San Vicente Basilica, an exquisite example of Spanish Romanesque architecture, along with the extensive 2,500-meter-long medieval walls.
Upon concluding the visit to Ávila, we will return to Madrid approximately 11 hours after we set off.
