Embark on this day trip to Caminito del Rey, a premier destination nestled in the province of Malaga. Prepare to be captivated by the breathtaking beauty of this stunning gorge!
Day Trip Details
We'll convene at the designated meeting point in Malaga city at the specified time. From here, we will head towards one of the province's most awe-inspiring gorges. Are you ready to uncover the enchanting landscapes of the Caminito del Rey?
As we journey, we will traverse the Alcaparaín mountain range, providing views of lush orange groves and charming white villages scattered throughout Andalusia. A 30-minute break will occur in the village of Ardales, allowing you to stretch your legs or enjoy a snack—an excellent way to kick off the day!
Following this, we’ll embark on a hike along the Caminito del Rey starting from the northern access in Ardales. This hike will take between 2.5 and 3 hours, featuring a remarkable footbridge that was inaugurated by King Alfonso XIII in 1925. Along the way, we will witness the scenic Guadalhorce reservoir and navigate down the Caminito del Rey’s most renowned staircase.
As we progress, we'll uncover the rich geology, diverse wildlife, and stunning vistas enveloping us. The suspended footbridge, high above the Gaitanes Gorge at nearly 105 meters (344 ft), offers remarkable panoramic views of the Sierra de Málaga. Don’t forget to capture the moment! We will also pause at the prime viewpoints for photo opportunities and to learn intriguing facts about the area.
After experiencing the wonders of Caminito del Rey, we will bid farewell to this exquisite location and begin our journey back to the starting point, concluding this unforgettable day trip that spans between 7 and 8 hours.
