History, worship, and scenery take center stage on this day trip from Lisbon to Sintra, Nazaré, and Fátima. Discover three of Portugal's beautiful towns.
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Rua da Conceição and set off west from Lisbon's historical center.
After a 1-hour journey, we'll reach Sintra for a guided tour of the gardens of the Palace of Pena. Here, you'll see the famous yellow and red exterior of this former royal residence.
After touring the National Palace of Pena from the outside, we'll continue to Nazaré, known for its surfing. We'll visit a lookout to admire the strong waves frequent in the area.
You will have 1 hour of free time in Nazaré to explore the town and sample its cuisine. Following lunch, we'll visit the Sanctuary of Fátima and the Chapel of the Apparitions. This is one of Europe's most worshiped sites, where you'll have 1 hour of free time to explore the religious complex at your own pace.
We will then return to Lisbon, concluding this 10-hour day trip with a drop-off at Praça Martim Moniz.
Itinerary Adjustments
- If there have been recent fires, we will visit Queluz National Palace instead of the Palace of Pena. Strikes will result in a visit to Quinta da Regaleira instead.
- The gardens of the Pena Palace are under restoration, leading to a slight increase in walking distance and moderate difficulty.
Instructions
15 minutes before the designated time, you'll need to head to the office of the Living Tours Lisboa Agency, located on Rua da Conceição 23/25, 1100-151. Please be punctual.
Itinerary Adjustments
- In the event of recent fires in the area before the day trip, instead of visiting the Palace of Pena, we'll take you to the Queluz National Palace. If there are strikes, we'll visit Quinta da Regaleira castle instead of the Palace of Pena.
- The gardens of the Pena Palace are currently undergoing restoration following recent storms in Portugal; therefore, the shuttle service is not operating until further notice. For this reason, the walk will be slightly longer than usual and of moderate difficulty.
