Embark on a day excursion to Évora from Lisbon, immersing yourself in one of the continent’s oldest cities while venturing into the wine-producing region of Alentejo. This journey invites you to uncover the rich historical tapestry of the area and delight in its renowned wines.
Évora & Alentejo Wine Region Day Excursion
At the agreed time, our adventure begins at the meeting point in Lisbon, as we set our sights on the renowned Alentejo region. During our drive, enjoy the stunning vistas of expansive plains adorned with vineyards, olive groves, and cork oaks until we arrive in Évora, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its historic significance, often referred to as a "city-museum."
Upon arrival, we will embark on a guided exploration of the city’s historic center. Highlights of the tour include iconic landmarks, such as the renowned Roman Temple of Diana and the awe-inspiring Évora Cathedral, an architectural masterpiece showcasing Romanesque-Gothic style.
Our journey continues into the intriguing Capela dos Ossos, where the captivating yet unsettling narrative behind its walls, adorned with human remains, unfolds.
Next, we will make our way to Montemor-o-Novo, where we’ll take time to investigate the remnants of its ancient castle and surrounding area, rich in a history that spans centuries.
To conclude our day’s adventures, a guided tour of a traditional Alentejo winery awaits. Delve into the winemaking process and local grape varieties before enjoying a tasting session featuring four carefully selected wines that showcase the unique characteristics of the region.
Following the tour, we will return to our departure point in Lisbon.

Visit to Monsaraz
You may also select an option that encompasses a visit to Monsaraz, one of Portugal’s most charming and authentic medieval villages. We’ll amble through its picturesque cobbled streets, enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Alqueva, the largest artificial lake in Europe, from atop its castle, and partake in a wine tasting in this historically rich environment.

On the day of the activity we will meet at the Living Tours Lisbon Agency, located at Rua da Conceição 23/25. We ask you to be at the meeting point 20 minutes before the start of the activity.
