Looking for wine tourism plans? Discover the rich heritage of Sintra and Cascais on this day trip from Lisbon, where you'll visit a local winery and enjoy a tasting of Portuguese wines.
Day Trip Details
We'll meet at the designated time at Rúa da Conceição, number 23-25. From this spot in the center of Lisbon, we'll set off west.
After a 1-hour journey, we'll reach Sintra, where we'll visit the exterior of the Palace of Pena, admired for its pastel colors. This monument is a World Heritage Site.
After exploring the palace's exterior and nearby features, we'll proceed to the town center for a brief guided tour of Sintra's old town, viewing monuments such as the National Palace of Sintra, the Clock Tower, and St. Martin Church.
You will have 2 hours of free time for lunch in Sintra. Afterward, we will visit the Regional de Colares Winery for a 45-minute tour, concluding with a tasting of 3 Portuguese wines.
Following the wine tasting, we will head to the Cabo da Roca Lookout for photos at the westernmost point of mainland Europe. We will continue to Cascais for a guided tour, viewing landmarks like the Palacete Seixas and Fortaleza de Nossa Senhora da Luz de Cascais. You will have approximately 20 minutes of free time in Cascais.
Lastly, if the weather permits, we'll visit Boca do Inferno before returning to Lisbon, dropping you off at Praça Martim Moniz after this 9-hour trip.
Itinerary Adjustments
- In case of recent fires, we'll visit Queluz National Palace instead of the Palace of Pena. During strikes, Quinta da Regaleira will replace the Palace of Pena.
- The gardens of the Pena Palace are under restoration, affecting shuttle service; thus, the walk may be longer and of moderate difficulty.
Instructions
15 minutes before the designated time, you'll need to go to the Living Tours Lisboa Office, located at the Rúa da Conceição 23/25. Please be punctual.
Please note that alcoholic beverages are only served to people who are 18 or older.
Itinerary Adjustments
- In the event of recent fires in the area before the day trip, we'll take you to the Queluz National Palace instead of the Palace of Pena. If there are strikes, instead of the Palace of Pena, we'll visit the Quinta da Regaleira.
- The gardens of the Pena Palace are currently undergoing restoration following recent storms in Portugal; therefore, the shuttle service is not operating until further notice. For this reason, the walk will be slightly longer than usual and of moderate difficulty.
