Embark on an excursion from Lisbon that features a guided exploration of the Pena Palace and the Quinta da Regaleira in the enchanting town of Sintra. Our journey will also take us to the stunning Cabo da Roca and the coastal gem of Cascais.
Trip Overview
We will convene at a designated point in Lisbon, from where we'll depart towards Sintra, located a mere thirty minutes from the city.
Upon arrival in Sintra, our first stop will be the historic center of this picturesque village, renowned for its many highlights. Here, we’ll admire the façade of the National Palace of Sintra, which was originally built in Arab style and later renovated in the 15th century to feature Manueline architecture. Interesting fact: it holds a spot on the World Heritage List.
Following this, we will delve into the Quinta da Regaleira Palace, a fascinating site brimming with lore and enigmas. This destination is also home to exquisite gardens, featuring exotic flora, cascading waterfalls, hidden grottoes, and an intriguing initiatory well.
Next, we will embark on a guided tour of the Pena National Park and its renowned Palace, which stands as Sintra's most iconic landmark and one of Portugal's top attractions. Fun fact: it served as the summer residence for the Portuguese royal family in the 19th century. We’ll uncover captivating narratives tucked away within its walls!
Feeling hungry? After exploring the Quinta da Regaleira, you'll have free time to enjoy lunch in Sintra. Once you’re fueled up, we will make a brief stop at Cabo da Roca, where you can capture stunning photos from this remarkable cliffside location.
Our final adventure will be a sightseeing excursion in Cascais, accessible via bus.
To wrap up our day, we will return to the heart of Lisbon approximately 8 to 9 hours after our departure. We look forward to seeing you again!
Important Information
It's important to note that access to both the Quinta da Regaleira Palace and the Pena Palace may not be appropriate for individuals with limited mobility or those over 65 years old. Additionally, sometimes, the tour may operate with smaller groups of up to 18 participants.
Possible Itinerary Adjustments
Please be aware that, for organizational purposes, the sequence of site visits may vary. Moreover, lunch may instead be enjoyed in Cascais, accompanied by an immersive guided walking tour rather than a scenic overview.
Furthermore, during peak season, longer durations may be expected due to traffic conditions.
Small Group Option
If you prefer a more intimate experience with a maximum of 8 participants, you may opt for our small group excursion to Sintra, including Pena Palace, Quinta da Regaleira, and Cabo da Roca.
