Recognized as a World Heritage Site since 1999, Nikko stands out as a spectacular day trip option from Tokyo. This excursion invites you to immerse yourself in a stunning natural environment while uncovering its significant temples and cultural landmarks.
Nikko Private Day Trip
Our adventure begins at the designated meeting location in Tokyo, from where we will board a train to Nikko. Please keep in mind that this is a private tour, primarily conducted on foot and utilizing public transportation. Prepare to discover the enchanting beauty of Nikko!
Upon arrival in Nikko, we will immediately dive into the "Sannai" district, renowned for its numerous temples and shrines, harmoniously integrated with the surrounding landscapes.
The itinerary includes a visit to the Toshogu Shinto Shrine, where the final resting place of the first Shogun of the Tokugawa Clan is located. This shrine showcases exquisite toriis, a magnificent five-story pagoda, and intriguing sculptures known as "Three Monkeys", "The Crying Dragon", and "The Sleeping Cat".
We will then explore the serene natural settings, including the Taiyuin temple, which marks the burial site of the architect behind the Toshogu Shrine.
No excursion to Nikko would be complete without viewing the iconic Shinkyo Bridge (Sacred Bridge), famous for its striking red hue set against the lush greenery.
After this visit, there will be some free time allocated for lunch and souvenir shopping before starting our return trip. Please note that while you're welcome to forgo lunch, a 30-minute rest period is necessary to allow our guide some downtime prior to the remainder of the tour.
We will conclude our day by retracing our steps back to Tokyo, with an estimated return timeframe of about 9 hours.
Meeting Point
The meeting location will be designated as either Tokyo Station or Asakusa Station, depending on your possession of the Japan Rail Pass.
