On Montserrat Mountain, the most notable features are the Gorros (Hats): slender, rounded spires of solid rock that offer a wide variety of climbing routes. Our proposal: climb the Gorro Frigi via the Vía de Carlos route, a 155-meter route with a moderate difficulty between IV and V+ (1 pitch). For many climbers, this is their first long-route experience.
If you are more experienced and prefer a more challenging route, I have other suggestions that may interest you, such as the Gómez-Xalmet route on the Prenyada crag, which is ideal for the coldest winter days because it is located on the south-facing slope and gets sun all day.
The guide will supervise the activity at all times and lead the rope team from start to finish.
Here's the plan! We'll meet at 09:00 at the Monastery of Montserrat. We will take the funicular and, in 10 minutes, reach the “Pla de les Taràntules.” There, we will hike along a beautiful 15-minute trail to the base of the Gorro Frigi formation. Between the climb and the abseil descent, we will spend between 3 and 4 hours on the route, after which we will take the funicular back to the Monastery.
