There are places that feel like they belong to everyone — and Vizcaya Museum & Gardens is one of them. Nestled along the shores of Biscayne Bay in Miami's historic Coconut Grove neighborhood, this 1916 Mediterranean-inspired estate was built as a private winter retreat for James Deering and has since become something far greater: a home for Miami, and an inspiration for all. Your visit begins on the east side of the campus, where the story of Vizcaya — and of Miami itself — starts to unfold. Standard admission grants full access to the Main House and Gardens, where you're invited to explore at your own pace. Inside the Main House, original furnishings, timeless works of art, and intricate architectural details have been carefully preserved, offering a rare and intimate window into another era. Every room tells a story; every object has been kept so that future generations can encounter the past firsthand. Outside, the gardens reveal a living landscape shaped by vision and sustained by care. Stroll along coral stone paths, pause beneath ancient banyan trees, and discover formal garden rooms designed with the same precision and artistry as the house itself. The subtropical landscape shifts with the seasons. Along the bayfront, views of Biscayne Bay serve as a reminder that Vizcaya has always existed in conversation with the natural world around it. Across South Miami Avenue, Vizcaya Village offers a deeper look into the museum’s agricultural past, where urban agriculture programs are taking root today— a community-within-a-community that is being thoughtfully restored for a new generation. Photography for personal use is warmly welcomed throughout the estate — and with good reason. Vizcaya's gardens, architecture, and bayfront setting offer a canvas unlike any other in South Florida. Whether you're here for the first time or returning to a place that has long felt like yours, there is always something new to notice, to feel, and to take home with you. There are so many ways to enjoy Vizcaya: Linger in a garden alcove. Sit with a view of the bay. Stop by the Vizcaya Café and Shop or the Village Café for a bite before you go. However you choose to spend your time here, Vizcaya is committed to being a place where everyone belongs. A Home for Miami, An Inspiration for All.
