Enjoy free time to grab lunch at one of Arashiyama's charming local restaurants or street food stalls, browse the shops, and snap photos of this picturesque area. ►Bamboo Forest Stroll through the famed bamboo forest, where sunlight filters through swaying stalks, creating a tranquil escape. ►Togetsukyo Bridge From this historic bridge, admire sweeping views of Arashiyama — where passing rickshaws offer a nostalgic glimpse into old Japan. ►Nonomiya Shrine Dating back to the Heian Period (1,000+ years), this shrine is famed for love and academic blessings, with its rare Kuroki Torii (unpainted gate) rising quietly within the bamboo forest. ►Kimono Forest A dazzling fusion of tradition and modernity, this art installation features 600 vibrant pillars adorned with Kyoto's exquisite Kyo-Yuzen textile patterns — perfect for a whimsical photo stop!
❣ Nara Park (1h10mins) When in Nara, a close encounter with the deer is a must! Nara Park is a sprawling green space beside Kasuga Taisha Shrine, home to sacred deer revered as messengers of the gods. With a history spanning over 1,300 years, the deer are now designated a national natural monument — feed them shika senbei (deer crackers) for an unforgettable moment.
⛩ Fushimi Inari Taisha (1h30mins) The highlight of the day awaits at the mysterious and spectacular Fushimi Inari Taisha! As the head shrine of roughly 30,000 Inari shrines across Japan, it was founded in 711 AD and boasts a rich, storied history. Step into the tunnel of vermilion torii gates winding up the mountainside — the entire Inariyama is considered sacred ground, and walking through it feels like stepping into another world.
