Archaeological and cultural

Syracuse and its island quarter Ortigia sit roughly 1.5 hours south and feature one of the world’s largest Greek theatres at the Neapolis Archaeological Park. The most affordable full-day excursion goes to Agrigento and Piazza Armerina, and it includes transportation from Taormina and a local guide. Entrance fees to the archaeological sites are not included but are free for EU citizens under 18 and reduced by 50% for EU citizens aged 18–25 with valid ID.
