Mombasa hat eine lange Geschichte, die bis ins 2. Jahrhundert n. Chr. zurückreicht. Mombasas Blütezeit war wahrscheinlich im 15. Jahrhundert, als es die größte und modernste Handelsstadt an der Küste war. Die Küstenstädte wurden von Swahili kontrolliert und fungierten als unabhängige Fürstentümer. Um das Jahr 1500 trugen die Menschen von Mombasa goldene Gewänder und lebten in wunderschönen mehrstöckigen Häusern, die reich mit Bugholz verziert waren.
Die Tour ist reich an einer Vielzahl von Kulturen und beginnt am Fort Jesus , einem alten Gebäude aus dem 16. Jahrhundert, der Altstadt von Mombasa aus dem 2. Jahrhundert und dem Sklavenmarkt (dem heutigen Gewürzmarkt).

Lucas shared lots of interesting information about the history, culture, and sights of Mombasa and explained everything in a very engaging and easy-to-understand way.

We were a bit late, but he kindly waited for us and gave us a very impressive and informative tour. We could ask him any question, and he gave us very interesting insights.
