Palermo Street Art and History
Tourbeschreibung
Palermo is a millennial town in the middle of the trading routes of the Mediterranean.
As such, it is and has been inhabited by people from all over the world.
These people have left traces: from the rulers, with their grand landmarks, made for everyone to witness their power to the humble inhabitants of the past, with their votive shrines scattered all over town, their puppet theaters and painted carts, to the street artists of the present, who are bringing beauty back on the surfaces left by the bombs of WW2.
We will let the city tell us the history of its community by walking from Porta nuova, with its impressive Telamones, to the Cathedral, to then dive into the heart of Ballarò district through its back alleys, where the wild prickly pear and the street artist have brought beauty in the void left by the bombs of WW2.
We will then see the fountain of shame and the quattro canti, where we will say good bye.
