¡Konnichiwa!
If you want to be shocked (for good) about how creative Japanese could be, join the tour. I enjoyed it very much.
This tour was both enlightening and entertaining, offering a fascinating glimpse into a side of Japanese culture that most visitors rarely encounter or discuss openly. Ryo-san proved to be an exceptional guide. He was approachable, patient, and refreshingly candid. He answered every question we threw at him without hesitation, even when we ventured into topics that most Japanese might shy away from. Our group certainly asked plenty of them, and he handled it all with candor and composure. What made the experience especially compelling was the wealth of context he shared, which included insights that you simply won’t find in conventional guidebooks. His perspective as a local added depth and nuance, helping us understand how a society that can appear quite reserved in everyday life expresses itself very differently within this particular sphere. The contrast was striking and genuinely eye-opening. The atmosphere throughout the tour was easygoing and lively, with plenty of playful banter among the participants. Ryo-san’s storytelling added to the fun, and his dramatic reenactment of the Godzilla statue’s fire-breathing effect was unforgettable... one that I'll forever cherish in my heart ;-) Thank you, Ryo-san, for such a distinctive and memorable experience. It was engaging, informative, and thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end.
The tour with Ryo was spectacular in all aspects. Despite the pouring rain he patiently showcased and explained all the various establishments in Shinjuku in unflinching clarity and detail. His tour also covered the history of Shinjuku and how it became the bustling nightlife district of today. This tour is highly recommended for interested visitors with an open mind and be warned: it is not for the faint of heart!
Ryo San is an outstanding story teller. The way he explains the history and culture is a different level. He did top-class research before coming to the walk. If you get a chance to do this tour with Ryo San, you should take it.
I had an absolutely wonderful experience with this guide. Even though it was very cold and no other guests joined the tour that day, he still went ahead and gave me the full experience as a private tour, with the same enthusiasm, professionalism, and kindness as if it had been a large group. He was incredibly friendly, patient, and attentive at all times, always making sure I was comfortable and enjoying every moment. His explanations were clear, interesting, and full of passion for Tokyo and its culture. I never felt rushed, and he adapted the pace perfectly to me. He also took many great photos, which I truly appreciate and will cherish as memories of this trip. It’s rare to find someone so dedicated and genuinely kind. I felt very lucky to have him as my guide, and I highly recommend him to anyone visiting Tokyo who wants a warm, personal, and memorable experience. You won’t regret it. Thank you so much for everything!
