Konnichiwa! Sono Ryo, la vostra guida locale. Sono nato e cresciuto a Tokyo. Mi sono diplomato alla Shinjuku Public High School, a 5 minuti a piedi dalla stazione di Shinjuku, e poi ho frequentato l'Università Waseda, a circa 30 minuti a piedi dalla stessa stazione. Vivevo nel quartiere di Kabukicho e lavoravo per una casa di produzione cinematografica nel quartiere gay di Shinjuku Nichome. Ho esperienza diretta di frequentazione di molti degli istituti di cui parleremo durante il tour. Attualmente, lavoro come insegnante di inglese in una scuola di preparazione intensiva durante il giorno, insegnando sia a studenti delle scuole superiori che a neolaureati.
We had a great time exploring the red light district of Shinjuku with Ryo. He was a very professional, informative and friendly guide who showed us lots of hidden spots that we wouldn't have otherwise known about. We learnt a lot about Japanese culture and now feel like we have a better understanding of the country overall. Would highly recommend this tour. Thanks Ryo!

As a native who is deeply familiar with the area, Ryo brought the hidden underworld of Shinjuku to life with his vivid storytelling filled with personal anecdotes and quirky humour. He took us a journey through the history of Shinjuku as we traversed the various districts, where we learnt not just about its famous nightlife but also took away fascinating insights about Japanese society and culture. This was probably the most memorable guided tour I’ve ever been on, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking to learn about a lesser-known aspect of Japan.
