Martin is very knowledgeable, friendly and more than willing to share the fascinating history of Cambodia. I went on 2 tours with him, and had a great time. Highly recommend Martin!
Martin was very knowledgeable on the history of the genocide and Cambodia in general. He explained everything fully and was open to questions, which he answered excellently. He was very passionate on the topic and communicated this well. He was understanding that this is a difficult topic and took his time to ensure we got the most out of it. Highly recommended!
Our tour guide was absolutely fantastic - knowledgeable, entertaining, and incredibly engaging, making the entire experience both informative and enjoyable. Martin John truly made the tour a memorable highlight of our trip!
The tour with Martin was very informative and well organized. He took the time to explain us the events before, during and after the genocide enacted by the Pol Pot regime in a way that I could make the connections between the events of this complex topic. I would absolutely recommend visiting the killing fields and prison with the tour to gain a deeper understanding of these tragic events as it is a very heavy topic and visiting these places is an intense experience. Although it is not a typical walking tour because you need to go to the destinations by car, Martin made use of this time to give us information in preparation for the visits. Overall, a very well planned and thought out tour!
Very good guide!!!
Would highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to learn about Cambodian history. The story of the Cambodian Genocide is a complicated one to explain, and yet Martin communicates it clearly and makes it feel much easier to understand. The tour far exceeded our expectations.
The best tour guide ever… so passionate an professional. Made us understand the whole story… must do while in the city
We were really fascinated in Martin's knowledge about the history of Cambodia. Also the tour was very well planed and we learned a lot today. Thank you, would book it again!
Martin is a wonderful storyteller and his stories are very engaging. We really appreciate his deep knowledge about Cambodia's history.
I've done several tours in Cambodia and every guide has talked about this country's tragic past but Martin provided the most comprehensive lesson--he's a walking encyclopedia!!! Overall, the tour was incredibly somber and insightful. I highly recommend it!!!!!
Mr. Martin is a brilliant and knowledgeable guide who brings history to life. We thoroughly enjoyed his candid insights and would have taken more of his tours if we had the time. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Phnom Penh
Martin doesn’t just tell you the dark and sad history of his country. He gets you to think about the depths and complexities of all the forces that may have influenced the direction of Cambodia. You can read books or google Cambodias history, but none of what you read will replace the depth of information you learn in Martin’s tour.
Martin fue un excelente guia! Explico muy bien la historia, aunque sea difícil entender
Tough topics, but interesting tour. Very knowledgeable guide
Let me start by saying Martin is more than qualified as an authority on the subject matter. He graduated from uni specialising in Cambodian history. This is the third time I have done Killing Fields and S21 and I must say it's the first time a lot of the dots have been connected from me. From getting to the root of the conflict before the Cambodian Civil war and the leading events as to why the Khmer Rouge came to be. You are not joining a tour. You are joining an omakase experience. Through Martin's stories, you will live through Cambodia's struggle for independence, the fight against communism, the rise and fall of the Khmer Rouge, and the road to recovery for Cambodia. There will be a lot of information to absorb, but it's all important, so you need to pay attention. Take care Martin, and I hope you will be ok and remember Srei saat, louy tom tom!
Tremendous. Martin is a great guide, very knowledgeable. Difficult subject, it is important we remember.
Martin is just a great guide, a true story teller. The tour is confronting but Martin brings in all the knowledge to help you understand. Highly recommend.
I really enjoyed the tour, Martin is a great guru, he explains everything very clearly, I recommend to take a tour with him!! Happy that I did it
Unbelievable how much information Martin provided to us and he was very passionate about everything! I can only recommend this tour
Outstanding tour albeit with a heavy subject matter. Martin did a fantastic job of presenting the complexities of the dark, recent past. If you are in Phnom Penh, you should really consider this to tour. You will remember this one.
Amazing tour. Well explained recent history of Cambodia in the context of world. We also saw killing fields and Museum of Holocaust. Highly recommend.
Martin has a great understanding of the history of Cambodia & was able to give us part of the background to such a horrific period for the Cambodian people. The sites visited are well preserved & respectful to the people who lost their lives.
Vielen Dank.
