An ancient Mediterranean town basking in the sunlight, Split feels like a naturla scenery for wild passionate love quite like Verona of Romeo and Juliet. However, since its foundation, Split has had not one but quite a few tragic love stories. Today they may be largely forgotten but they still remain deeply embedded within the city's culture and tradition. Join me and find about the most famous love stories beginning with Roman emperor Diocletian through the Middle Ages and Rennaisance period well until 20th century. On our way, we will visit the Peristyle square, the ruins of the chapel of st. Arnir, the greater Papalić palace, the green market, old Veli Varoš suburb and the waterfront. Let's discover what made these love stories so special and beautiful and revive the extraordinary circumstances that helped shape them!
