I'm originally from Ohio, US. I'm a dog lover, history enthusiast and foodie. I know where all the best spots to eat and all the important places to know in Prizren.
Disappointing Experience – Needs Significant Improvement We recently joined the free walking tour in Prizren with high hopes of learning about the city's rich history and culture. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of our expectations. The guide, while friendly and well-intentioned, was very new to the city and lacked the depth of local knowledge that we were looking forward to. Being from the US, it was clear that he had not yet had the time or experience to build a strong connection with Prizren's unique heritage. As a result, much of the information shared felt surface-level and occasionally uncertain, which made it hard to feel truly engaged or informed. We understand that everyone has to start somewhere, and we appreciate the guide’s effort, but for a tour that’s meant to introduce visitors to such a historically and culturally rich city, we believe it’s essential that guides are either locals or very well-versed in the area. Otherwise, the tour loses its value, especially when compared to other free walking tours in the region that are much more insightful and immersive. We would kindly suggest that the organizers invest in better training for new guides, or ideally, assign more experienced locals who can share personal stories, historical context, and cultural insights that visitors would not find in a travel brochure. This would greatly enhance the overall experience and justify participants’ time and tips. We hope to see improvements in the future, as Prizren truly deserves to be represented with knowledge, passion, and authenticity.
