Originally from the UK, based in Berlin since 2018, I am a Dr. of Popular Musicology who's work investigates ideas of technological authenticity in modern electronic dance music. I am also a DJ and producer in my spare time.
Had a fantastic stroll through various Berlin neighbourhoods with our very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Given all of the changes since the early 90s, Newly-minted Doctor Jon (this man recently received his PhD in techno!) did a great job recreating what the different neighbourhoods and club locations/scenes must have looked and felt like at a quite a time of upheaval and transition (politically, culturally and musically). We could tell that Jonathan put his heart and soul (and countless hours of research) into this splendid history lesson. Bonus: He didn't mind going a full hour over schedule. What great quality and great value :)
"Slumberland" was the original location of "Dschungel".
Dr. Jonathan is very knowledgeable and a great storyteller. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in music history.
