Hey, my name is Zahya, civil engineering student, I love to show the tourist my city, and explain the history of my beautiful city, Casablanca, showing them that Casablanca it’s not just a busy city, but it’s also a city that deserved to visiting, I have some experience as a tourist guide, I like to do that and I enjoy it because I can make friends from all the different countries in the world, and enjoying the walk together :)
Although I was disappointed it wasn't Zahya's fault. It was a fault of the system. I booked it the same day (as I wasn't sure of my arrival time and I was in transit). The system confirmed the reservation so I assumed it was OK. I got to the meeting point and there was nobody there. Later Zahya told me that she didn't know as it was booked the same day.
Regrettably, the overall experience was not good. Unlike other guru walk tours I have taken that were great. Zahya was late (I had to text her twice). She finally came and said she was busy during the day and only saw the tour. Others cancelled on her she said. Before starting the tour, she asked how much I would pay her saying US $50 was not reasonable. I was shocked that she would want to know before the tour. I would pay based on how good her tour was. I did not agree to pay a large amount. The tour did not occur. She was worried that I would give her a poor review even after I told her the cost of the taxi and waiting 30 minutes for her. To be fair, I booked another tour with her and told her. While polite, she said to value her service and pay accordingly or cancel. So I cancelled. Her actions have damaged Guruwalk’s reputation. If in the service business that is based on tips, please understand, you offer the service and the customer will tip based on how good the service was. Not good to try to extort money from customers. By the way, look at aviator’s tours on the web in Casablanca that are US $20-$30 so unclear why US $50 was expected. Surprisingly, I got an email from guruwalk saying the tour guide said I did not do the tour and next time I should cancel. Interesting that the reason the tour did not take place was not mentioned. This, this review. I wish her no ill feelings and write this to (1) inform the public to be aware of the disappointing experience, and (2) for guru walk to be aware of the damage to their reputation if this pattern of behaviour is normal.
Excellent guide full of information. Her English was excellent. Would give her 5 stars and would highly recommend her!
Zahya is a local who truly knows her town. Everywhere we went people knew her. She was patient, kind and informative! She truly showed us all the aspects of Casablanca. Highly recommend her!
