Discover Arrecife , the capital of Lanzarote, on a guided tour led by an experienced guide from Lanzarote, with a degree in Art History and accredited as an official tourism guide of the Government of the Canary Islands.
What is it about? Touring the corners of Arrecife we will reveal stories and anecdotes in a pleasant way that will help us to better understand this small port city. Stories of piracy, explorers, fishermen and merchants, which have marked the landscape of Arrecife. We will put in context the figure of César Manrique (Arrecife, 1919-Taiche, 1992): where did he come from, in what society did he develop as a person and as an artist. Above all, we will reveal how Lanzarote went from being a land of thirst and hardships that the majority wanted to flee to become a pole of international attraction and an example of sustainable tourism.
How long is the tour? Approximately two and a half hours, including a twenty minute snack break.
What does it bring you? We approach the tour as a kind of "instruction manual" to enjoy the small charms of a city that generally resists tourists: gastronomy, cultural offerings and the most interesting shops to take home a souvenir of the island. You will not regret having done it.
What will we see? The walk will take us through the main monuments, places and views of the city center:
Why do the people of Lanzarote call us "conejeros" in the rest of the islands? I will explain that during the tour.
Do not hesitate and book!
Meeting point: Open in Google Maps
How to find me: I will be next to the "Music Kiosk" in front of the House of Culture and the Jonay bakery-cafeteria. The Music Kiosk is that circular wooden stage that you will see in the middle of the park. I will be standing waiting on the side of the Kiosk that faces the sea with my guide's accreditation card hanging around my neck.
