Am an English speaking freelance tourist guide been doing tours for over five years. I studied tourism at the university and so passionate about nature and wildlife, and about using tourism as a tool for conservation and restoration. I volunteer with the Lake Nkuruba Nature Reserve as a conservationist ensuring the restoration of indigenous tree species and extending the forest cover. No wonder it's at this place i normally meet with the people i walk around.

Tour description

On this tour, expect to take a nature walk around the Nkuruba nature reserve for four species of monkeys that inhabit this place, various bird species, visit a local farm where you will meet the local who will take you to visit his coffee plantation. He will then guide you through the traditional way of processing coffee using very local tools. This process begins with a visit to the coffee plantation, going through traditional processing and preparation in the kitchen until the moment of serving.
After this entire process, we head to another local house to visit the vanilla producer, who will also guide you through the entire process of growing, curing, and drying vanilla.

The difficulty of the tour:
Easy walk on a good village trail from the meeting point, just under a kilometer to the coffee/local farmer.

Lake Nkuruba Nature Reserve & Community Campsite

Tour starts at Nkuruba nature reserve from where we expect to see four monkey species, Crater lake - Nkuruba a nature walk at this place will be a curtain raiser of the tour.

Spectacular views of the Rwenzori mountain can be seen while on this walk, on a good weather even snow can be seen from a distance at some points.
