1Outside visitGustav Adolfs torg 1
This is the square of Gustav II Adolf, also known as "The Lion from the North". I will introduce you to him, but also to Stockholm and Sweden in general. How does Sweden compare to other European countries, what is so special about Stockholm and how do other swedes feel about us stockholmers?
The political heart of Sweden! From here you can see the great lake Mälaren, which plays an important role in Stockholms development.
Familiar with Greta Thunberg? And have you heard the history behind the Nobel Prize award? This is the place for swedish demonstrations, with the perfect view of the City Hall.
Riddarholsmkyrkan is the oldest building in Stockholm and also the church where the Swedish royals are buried. One of the many beautiful churches of Stockholm, despite the fact that Sweden is the least religious country in the world. Why are we not religious here and what still remains of pervious religions in the Swedish culture?
One of Stockholms most brutal events took place here - The Stockholm Blood Bath. How did it happen and why? And who was Gustav Vasa - the man who gathered an army through a skiing campaign in order to fight his his opponent Christian Tyrant?
The royal palace of Stockholm hasn't always looked like it does today. What happened to the previous castle and who was the famous architect Nikodemus Tessin, who some people claim to be responsible for the destruction of the previous castle? We will also talk about the Swedish monarchy here - how long has it existed, what is the role of the royal family today and how do swedes in general feel about the royals?
The oldest painting of what Stockholm used to look like. On this painting you will recognize many of the historical buildings that we have talked about on the tour.
8Outside visitS:t Georg och draken
One of the most famous statues of Stockholm symbolizes a battle. Sweden is a peaceful country today, but that definitely has not always been the case. So why did we stop fighting?
9Outside visitBrända Tomten
Brända Tomten translates to Burnt Garden, can you guess what happened to the house that used to be here? And what is funny about the name Brända Tomten?
10Outside visitTyska Kyrkan
The German church, where sermons are still held in German. The Swedish language is very influenced by german, but what other languages have influenced Swedish? Why are swedish people good english speakers and how does swedish compare to other nordic languages?
11Outside visitCarl Larssons birthplace & Mårten Trotzigs gränd
This is where the famous Carl Larsson was born - the man who came from a pour backgrund but ended up becomming one of the richest end most celebrated artists in the country. His birth house is right next to the narrowest and most instagrammed street in all of Stockholm.
The Iron square, next to Stockholms oldest restaurant - Den Gyldene Freden. This was the favourite restaurant of an 18th century songwriter named Bellman, who wrote most of his songs about beautiful loose women and alcohol. But how is the swedish drinking culture today, why is there only one store in Sweden where you can buy alcohol and how do swedes feel about it?
The last stop of the tour! I will give you all of my recommendations here - which are the best museums, where can you eat the best traditional swedish food and where should you go for a classic swedish fika.
