Tour description

Join our free tour of the beautiful historic center of Regensburg/Ratisbon. It is the largest medieval city in Germany, with more than 1000 ancient buildings , which will take you back to the golden ages of the Holy Roman Empire. Today it is the fourth largest city in Bavaria and an important university center, located on the banks of the Danube.

Our free tour in Spanish begins in Kohlenmarkt square, where we will learn about the history of the city from the time of the Roman fortress to its present day. Next we will admire the municipal town hall built at different times, famous for hosting the longest Imperial Diet session, do you have any idea when it lasted?

We then explore the wide squares lined with aristocratic mansions and the narrow streets with their characteristic patrician towers. We will tell you from which European country the local burghers copied this architectural fashion. Our next stop will be the old Jewish quarter where we will learn about the history of the Jewish community of Regensburg , being one of the oldest in all of Germany. We will talk about the glorious past and the dark era of National Socialism.

Next we will visit the majestic Gothic cathedral , considered one of the most beautiful Gothic constructions in the entire country. We will tell you about the beginning of the bishopric history of the 8th century and the first saints of the city. Did you know that in Regensburg you can find one of the greatest remains of the Roman era at the national level? Leaving the enclosure we will admire the famous Porta Pretoria - the Roman garrison relic built in the time of Marcus Aurelius .

After 2 hours of travel we will conclude our free tour in Spanish, in front of the emblematic stone bridge, the true symbol of the city connecting two banks of the Danube. That is where we explain interesting details of this work of medieval civil engineering.

It is where you can decide if you want to get to know the Stadtamhof neighborhood located on the other side of the river or enjoy delicious Bavarian food at the Historische Wurstkuche offering the most traditional sausages in the city.
