New Orleans was founded in 1718 on the site of what is now the famed French Quarter. The French Quarter delights travelers with its romantic courtyards, plant draped galleries, and old world architecture. We begin the tour in Jackson Square(if the Square is closed, we meet at the Decatur Street gate)and end near the French Market. We will discuss the French, Spanish, and American periods, architecture, literary history, immigration patterns, indigenous populations, and so much more. Come, take a stroll with me back in time and learn what makes New Orleans one of the premier cities in the world.

Sandy was amazing, professional, what a dry great sense of humor. Great historical information and good local recommendations of food spots etc. I booked this tour for my friend group on day 1 of my trip (I do GuruWalks everywhere I go). They loved it! It was a perfect introduction to the town, expanding on terrain, climate, history, culture, and all the context needed to really appreciate the town. Really fun and useful orientation, recommend doing this tour with Sandy on your first days in town. This was a fun way to hear about the 300yr history of NOLA and the stories over the centuries, as well as get to see the French Quarter.
