What makes merkato special is a place which you can buy any staff with discount. The market is open From Monday to saturday from 7 am in the morning to 6 pm afternoon.

Menelik II SquareMenelik II Square is located in the heart of Addis Ababa, the area locally known as Arada. At the center of the square stands a magnificent equestrian statue of the Emperor. The monument was erected by Emperor Haile Selassie I, in 1930, just before his coronation.

Lion of Judah StatueThe monument was commissioned by Emperor Haile Selassie, who saw this as an opportunity to reflect Africa’s move forward into modern times. Henry Shomet, the Architect of the Addis Ababa City Hall, was instrumental in recommending sculptor Maurice Calka as his work reflected radical modernity.
