Description
Step into the Soul of Bandung: A Walking Tour Like No Other
It all begins at a quiet corner near Asia Afrika Street at preanger hotel at 9 AM. As the morning light bounces off colonial-era facades, I welcome you not just as a guide but as your storyteller, your local friend, and your key to uncovering the untold tales of Bandung.
This isn’t your average tour. With each step, you’ll feel the pulse of the city. its history, rebellion, romance, and resilience. We'll explore charming alleyways where street art comes to life, visit architectural relics from the Dutch East Indies, and sip traditional coffee along with authentic cookies and bread in a Het Snoephuis (Sumber Hidangan) where time seems to stand still.
Highlights include:
- The historic Gedung Merdeka and stories of the Asian-African Conference included stories of Societeit Concordia
- Art Deco gems along Grote Postweg (Asia-africa street) and Braga street.
- Hidden kampungs and alleyways.
- Local market corners filled with scents, colors, and flavors.
- Stories of dutch east indies era, independence, and city folklore whispered through the streets.
Each route covers key locations, such as:
- Historical Walk: Asia Afrika Street → Gedung Merdeka → Braga Street → historic Art Deco landmarks
- Market & Cultural Walk: Pasar Baru, Kopi Purnama (*Particularly for those of you who are big coffee enthusiasts), Alun-Alun, and Wayang Pangarang
Our journey ends at a Pangarang street in Ruhiyat wayang puppet maker in area behind the Savoy Homann hotel. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to discover the traditional craft of wayang golek, learn about the people behind it, and see another side of Bandung’s living cultural heritage. And in every stop where you’ll enjoy a chance to ask the questions you've been holding in about the city, its people, or perhaps… its secrets.
Please note:
- Lunch is not included, but we can stop at recommended spots if you’d like to try authentic local cuisine. You decide how much you eat, how much you spend.
- At its core, this tour is built around open conversation and shared exploration. Rather than simply listening to a fixed narration, guests are encouraged to ask questions, exchange perspectives, and engage with the stories behind each place we visit. The aim is not simply to see Bandung, but to understand a little more about the city and the people who have made it what it is today.
- For guests who are particularly interested in visiting the Museum Konferensi Asia Afrika, the visit can be arranged as part of the tour with prior reservation. Please keep in mind that the museum is closed on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.
- Don’t hesitate to book the tour, as the official registration closes one hour before the tour starts on the day itself.
