Tour description

Discover Real Lagos: Amuwo Odofin Local Experience Tour

If you want to experience Lagos beyond the usual tourist areas, this tour is for you. This is a deep dive into everyday life in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos State, where you will experience authentic culture, local food, vibrant markets, and waterside living.
We will begin in the waterside community area of Amuwo Odofin, where you’ll see how local riverine residents live and work. From there, we will take a relaxing boat ride along the lagoon, offering a unique view of Lagos from the water and a chance to experience the coastal lifestyle that shapes much of the city.
Food is a major highlight of this tour. You will enjoy freshly prepared catfish pepper soup, a beloved Nigerian delicacy, served hot and authentic. We will also visit reputable Nigerian restaurants within the area where you can taste local dishes such as jollof rice, egusi soup, pounded yam, suya, and other traditional meals.
Next, we explore the vibrant commercial side of Lagos:
• Trade Fair International Market — one of the largest markets in West Africa, known for wholesale goods, electronics, household items, fabrics, and import products. You’ll witness large-scale trading and the entrepreneurial spirit of Lagos.
• Alaba International Market — famously known for electronics, music, films, and technical services. This market showcases the commercial creativity and hustle culture Lagos is known for.
• Iyana Iba Market — a busy local market where you’ll experience everyday buying and selling of fresh produce, food items, clothing, and household goods. It offers a true grassroots Lagos atmosphere.
We will also pass through Lagos State University, Ojo Campus, one of Nigeria’s major public universities, where you’ll observe student life and the academic environment shaping thousands of young Nigerians.
Tour Cost Note:
Guests will cover their own transportation costs to and from the tour locations. Estimated transportation cost is approximately ₦200,000 round trip, depending on vehicle type and movement within the area.
Additionally, the tourist will pay the entrance fees for themselves and also for the tour guides at all applicable sites. Food, souvenirs, and personal purchases are also at the guest’s expense.
This tour is designed to give visitors a genuine understanding of local Lagos life — the people, food, markets, energy, and everyday lifestyle that makes the city unique.
If you are ready to experience the real Lagos beyond the postcard version, this tour will give you memories, stories, and authentic connections you won’t find elsewhere.
Let’s explore Lagos together.
