Tour description
Join Max and Jamie, two passionate University of Melbourne students, for an engaging 90-minute journey through the heart of the world’s most liveable city. This tour offers a deep dive into Melbourne’s dual identity, bridging the gap between its 60,000-year First Nations history and its vibrant, caffeine-fueled modern culture.
Walk with us through Melbourne's Central Business and Cultural Districts, covering approximately 2.5km and all of the most important sites. We look forward to sharing our city with you!
Tour Highlights
- First Nations Roots: Start at the banks of the Birrarung (Yarra River). Learn about the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation - the world's oldest living culture.
- Colonial Beginnings & Rivalries: Discover the "Hoddle Grid" and the cheeky history of the Melbourne-Sydney rivalry that led to the creation of Canberra.
- Iconic Landmarks: Stand before the historic Flinders Street Station (once the world’s busiest!) and learn the myths behind its unique architecture.
- Sporting Soul: Gaze toward the MCG while uncovering the Indigenous roots of AFL and why Melbourne is the undisputed sporting capital of the world.
- Hidden Gems & Street Art: Wander through the world-famous Hosier Lane to decode the secrets of its graffiti and explore the elegant 19th-century arcades.
- Global Flavors: Visit the longest continuous Chinatown in the West and hear the surprising story of how McCafé and the Freddo Frog were born right here in Melbourne.
