Hey! I’m Mel—Denver-based, endlessly curious, and a big believer that cities are best explored on foot. I love sharing Denver’s history, hidden gems, and the stories that don’t always make it into guidebooks. My tours are relaxed, informative, and designed to feel like walking the city with a knowledgeable friend.

Tour description

Step away from the busy downtown streets and into the neighborhoods that shaped Denver’s soul. On this walk, we’ll explore leafy parks, historic homes, and one of the city’s most socially and culturally influential areas.

Starting in Congress Park, we’ll move through green spaces and into Capitol Hill, a neighborhood known for its layered history, activism, diversity, and iconic architecture. Along the way, I’ll share engaging stories, surprising fun facts, and the moments that helped define Denver—past and present.

This tour blends history, culture, and an outdoorsy vibe, with plenty of chances to slow down, ask questions, and really connect with the city. I’m also happy to offer local recommendations for food, coffee, museums, parks, and outdoor adventures after the walk. Come curious, wear comfortable shoes, and get ready to see Denver from a more local, human perspective.

Highlights

What will we see on this tour?

Meeting point:
Copper Door Coffee Roasters
We'll meet right outside of Copper Door Coffee Roasters (or inside if the weather is bad). Feel free to grab a coffee/tea/pastry while you wait! I'll have a purple umbrella, so I'll be easy to spot. The Denver Botanic Gardens has a free parking lot (across the street and just up the hill) that you can use for the duration of the tour!
1
Entry not included
Denver Botanic Gardens
From the park, we’ll pass by the Denver Botanic Gardens. While we won’t enter during the tour, we’ll talk about its significance, and I’ll share tips if you’d like to visit later on your own.
2
Free entry
Cheesman Park
We’ll walk through Cheesman Park, one of Denver’s most beloved parks. Here we’ll talk about its transformation over time, its role in city life, and how nature and urban planning intersect in Denver.
3
Outside visit
Millionaire's Row
This stretch of Capitol Hill features grand historic homes built during Denver’s late-1800s boom years, when mining wealth shaped the city. As we walk along Millionaires’ Row, we’ll talk about old money, power, architectural styles, and how this elite enclave later evolved into one of Denver’s most diverse and socially influential neighborhoods.
