Notre-Dame Cathedral Paris Free Exterior Tour : Stories Hidden in Stone

On the Île de la Cité, where Paris was born, Notre-Dame has stood for more than 800 years, witnessing coronations, revolutions, destruction and rebirth.

During this 1-hour exterior tour, we’ll explore the cathedral’s most dramatic turning points: from the French Revolution to Napoleon’s coronation, from bold Gothic innovation to the fire that shook the world in 2019.

But Notre-Dame is also a story carved in stone. We’ll meet its kings and saints on the façade, decode its symbols, admire the gargoyles watching over Paris, and understand how flying buttresses and rose windows transformed medieval Europe.

I also provide a pair of binoculars during the tour so we can better see the details high up on the cathedral.

I’m a professional Parisian guide and actress, and I love bringing history to life with storytelling, clarity, and a touch of humor.

This is a free walking tour, based entirely on contribution. At the end, you are free to decide what the experience was worth to you.

My goal is simple: that you leave with new knowledge, a fresh perspective, and a smile.
