Hi! I’m Ida, a licensed tour guide and archaeologist based in Pompeii.
I’ve been guiding here for over 20 years, but my approach is a bit different from the usual historical tour. I don’t just explain ruins, I tell the hidden stories behind them.
My background is in Classical Literature and Archaeology, and I’ve spent years studying ancient religions, symbols, and daily life in the Roman world. Pompeii, to me, is not just a city frozen in time , it’s a place where people lived surrounded by beliefs, rituals, and unseen meanings.
During my tours, I like to create an experience that is engaging, human, and a little unexpected. You won’t just hear dates and facts, you’ll discover what life really felt like, what people feared, what they believed in, and what still echoes today.
If you’re curious, open-minded, and looking for something different from the standard tour… you’re in the right place.

Tour description
Forget the usual Pompeii tour.
This is not about dates and ruins… it’s about what was hidden.
We will explore the secret side of Pompeii:
a world of magic, curses, forbidden rituals and mysterious cults that most visitors never discover.
Together, we will walk through ancient streets and uncover:
🔮 The magical rituals performed in private houses
🗝️ Hidden symbols and protective spells still visible today
⚔️ The dark side of gladiators and their connection to magic
🌀 The mystery cult of Isis and its secret initiations
📜 Ancient curses (defixiones) and how they were used
This experience is designed for curious travelers who want something different — deeper, darker, and unforgettable.
Led by a licensed guide, archaeologist and author of the novel “Maria Balsa, the Daughter of Dracula”, this tour blends history, storytelling and esoteric knowledge into a unique journey.
Important: This is a free (tip-based) tour. At the end, you are free to decide the value of the experience.
