The history of a river city like Paris is inseparable from that of its bridges. These monuments, indispensable passageways, have accompanied the socioeconomic life of the city at every stage of its evolution. For two millennia, the Seine has seen numerous bridges rise over its course to connect the island with the right and left banks of the city.

Spaces of commerce, points of defensive control, urban centers, or symbols of power, the bridges of the cité are and have been edifices rich in art and beauty, bearers of legends, stories, and anecdotes. All of them, without exception, deserve a visit and a moment of admiration to better understand the essential role of these access routes to the heart of Paris.
