Must-sees in Montilla – Free Cultural Tour through the Historic Heart
Discover the must-sees of Montilla on a guided tour of its historic center, history, and most illustrious figures. The tour begins at the Paseo de Cervantes, a central and easily accessible point next to free parking.
The first stop will be the historic Convent of Santa Clara, where we will learn about the importance of convent life in the city. We will then continue to the House of Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, with an interior visit to discover the life of the celebrated writer and humanist associated with Montilla.
We'll continue to the iconic Plaza de la Rosa, surrounded by historic buildings such as La Tercia and the Garnelo Theatre. Along the way, we'll see places like the La Camacha Mural, the Casa del Gran Capitán, and the traditional La Escuchuela neighborhood, where we'll view the exterior of the Parish Church of Santiago Apóstol.
The visit concludes at Montilla Castle, birthplace of Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba. Subject to availability, a visit to the Great Captain's Museum will be offered to further enhance the cultural experience.
