Thames: The River Heart of London, Between History and Reality

The tour lasts 2 hours
Available in Italian

Description

Explore London on foot by following the course of its river. This Walking Tour will guide you past the famous St Paul's Cathedral with a pedestrian walk that will take us over the Millennium Bridge, to the Modern Tate bank, where the city's ancient art blends with its most vibrant, artistic, and contemporary soul.

Once you cross the bridge, you are greeted by the breath of the River on the left, before the path bends into Clink Street. Here the atmosphere changes suddenly: the sky narrows into a crevice and the sunlight struggles to penetrate, hindered by the tall Victorian warehouses of dark bricks that evoke the industrial past of London's port. Walking through these stone gorges, medieval history suddenly resurfaces in the remains of Winchester Palace; of the lavish residence of the powerful Bishop of Winchester, only a monumental wall remains today, against which stands the geometric skeleton of a splendid 14th-century rose window.

Hello everyone! I have over twenty years of experience in the art world and a great passion for Art History. I consider it a sort of door in time, capable of putting us in touch with the past and helping us better understand the present. Every work tells a story, every detail speaks to us of eras, emotions and ideas that, in some way, still concern us today. Sharing all this with others is for me a wonderful opportunity for exchange, discovery and inspiration.
