Trabzon Free Walking Tour: 4000 Years of History and Culture

This is not a typical city tour. Instead of simply visiting famous landmarks, we will discover how Trabzon developed from an ancient settlement into one of the most important cities on the Black Sea coast.

Our walk begins at the historic castle area near Ismail Hakki Berkmen Library. From there, we will explore the old city walls, cross the historic Zagnos Bridge and continue through the oldest neighborhoods of Trabzon. Along the route, you will learn about the Roman Empire, the Byzantine period, the Empire of Trebizond, the Ottoman conquest, and the modern Republic of Türkiye.

We will visit important historical sites including Fatih Mosque, one of the oldest churches in Trabzon, historic bridges, traditional streets and local markets. You will hear stories about emperors, sultans, merchants and ordinary people who shaped the city throughout the centuries.

We will also stop at local shops where you can discover traditional Trabzon products and enjoy small local tastings.

This experience is perfect for travelers who want to understand the real Trabzon, its culture, history, architecture and daily life.

The tour is conducted entirely in English and lasts approximately 2 to 2.5 hours.
