Bites of History: Kotagede Heritage & Food Tour

The tour lasts 2 hours
Available in English and Chinese (Mandarin)

Description

Welcome to Kotagede, the historic 16th-century capital of the Islamic Mataram Kingdom!
While most visit in the morning, our afternoon tour offers a peaceful charm. We'll escape the midday heat inside a heritage mansion and hunt for legendary local snacks.

What we will explore:
-Museum Kotagede: Our meeting point. Housed in an eclectic mansion of the wealthy "Orang Kalang" clan, this modern museum provides a visual intro to royal history, secret bunkers, and local traditions.
-Kipo Bu Djito: We’ll walk to the original home of Kipo. This snack was once a favorite snack for Javanese royalty. My treat for you!
-Pasar Legi Area: We wrap up at Yogyakarta's oldest traditional market. The morning grocery stalls are gone, but the afternoon street food scene is just waking up! We'll focus purely on local flavors like Kembang Waru cake and other refreshing treats.

Important Notes:
-Duration & Distance: Approx. 2 hours, walking around 1 km.
-How it works: This is a tip-based tour (Free Walking Tour).
-Food Cost: "Pay-as-you-go" system. You only pay for what you choose to eat (snacks are very cheap, mostly under $1 USD).
-This highly flexible tour is perfect if you are new to Indonesian street food!
-Wear comfortable shoes and bring a hat/sunglasses.
