Trieste and the Old Port - Industrial archeology tour

The tour lasts 2 hours
Available in English

Description

The Old Port of Trieste, a city within another city. The guided tour reveals the bond between Trieste and the sea through a district that has only been opened to the public in recent years: the Old Port – a globally unique example of a 19th‑century port that has remained unchanged from the Victorian era to the present day.

The itinerary offers insight into how the Port operated two centuries ago, via a walking tour among warehouses, inns, and power stations. Perfect for lovers of industrial archaeology and Art Nouveau architecture, the route allows you to admire a "city within a city", conceived as a self‑sufficient neighborhood.

The tour departs from the gate at Largo Santos, next to the Silos bus station. Along the way, you can admire the piezometric tower, the Locanda Grande, and the Habsburg warehouses. There is also the possibility of a visit to the Maritime Museum, free of entrance.
