Sète: Canals, Street Art & Local Life Free Tour

Description
What do you get when you combine a 350-year-old fishing port, colourful canals, Mediterranean beaches, incredible seafood, street art and two of France's most famous cultural figures? Sète.
Join me for a relaxed walk through one of the most unique and authentic towns on the French Mediterranean coast. We'll explore the canals that have earned Sète its nickname “the Venice of the Languedoc”, discover the city's fascinating maritime history and learn why fishing and the sea are still at the heart of local life. Along the way, we'll talk about the people who shaped Sète – including famous poet Paul Valéry and legendary singer-songwriter Georges Brassens – and discover the city's colourful artistic scene, from contemporary art to street art. Of course, we can't talk about Sète without talking about food! I'll introduce you to local specialities such as tielle sétoise, oysters from the Étang de Thau and the local Picpoul de Pinet wine. We'll also discover one of Sète's most unusual traditions: water jousting, where competitors battle each other on the canals with lances and shields!
We'll finish the tour at the foot of Mont Saint-Clair, where you'll get a final glimpse of the geography that makes Sète so special – the Mediterranean on one side, the Étang de Thau on the other, and the city in between. And from here, you have a choice. Want to keep exploring? You can continue up Mont Saint-Clair and enjoy one of the best panoramic views over Sète, the lagoon and the Mediterranean. Ready for a drink, some food or the beach? You're also perfectly placed to continue exploring Sète at your own pace.
On this tour, you'll discover:

This isn't a “tick off the sights” kind of tour. It's a chance to understand what makes Sète Sète – its history, people, food, traditions and, above all, its relationship with the sea. Come curious, bring comfortable shoes, and let's discover Sète together!
