If you get the chance to have Hakan as your guide, grab it! He was funny, knowledgeable, entertaining and always ready to respond to questions. We loved his mix of history and the key sights, with observations about daily life, cats, shisha and arranged marriages. Really came away feeling we had learned a lot about Istanbul. Thank you!

Fantastic tour of Sultanahmet with Emre.. we walked all of the key sites and he shared a lot of history and culture while we walked. It was a mix of history, culture and stories about every day life in Instabul.. the pace was just right and at the end of the tour, he shared pointers about Istanbul- places to eat / things to do/ etc which was also super useful (we went to a lot of restaurants and places recommended by Emre over the subsequent days)! Great experience, highly recommend!

Hakan is a fantastic guide! He is very entertaining and has his own personal stories to go along with the information, which I found engaging. He also gave us some great recommendations on where to eat and what to see by ourselves after the tour. I would do a tour with him again in a heartbeat!

I booked the free walking tour for my friend and I in Istanbul with Emre through GuruWalk and we had an excellent experience overall. Communication with Emre was great from the moment we booked. He sent us a WhatsApp message with clear information regarding the meeting point, tourist guides, FAQ and other useful tidbits. We were able to find him easily and the tour started on time. He laid out our itinerary very clearly so that we knew exactly what to expect. The difficulty level of the walk was easy (about 3km covered on flat terrain, with frequent stops over the course of several hours). The walk took us through many of the key spots in the historic neighbourhood of Istanbul including the Egyptian Obekisk, the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sofia, the Grand Bazaar, Istanbul University, and the Süleymaniye Mosque. Emre was an exceptional tour guide. He has an extensive and rich knowledge of Istanbul's history, culture and traditions. We really appreciated his ability to tell captivating stories that were also informative and memorable. We also really appreciated how he took us to the main tourist locations but also to other locations that were off the beaten path, like the ancient book bazaar and a shisha cafe that is frequented by locals. He also gave us really helpful information about when would be best to visit certain sights that tend to have more tourist congestion. The Pdf guides he provided us with after the tour had additional information about Istanbul, including activity guides, hammam FAQs, food guides and more. I would not hesitate to recommend Emre's walking tour for any tourist visiting Istanbul for the first time. If we return to Istanbul, we will also contact Emre first to organize other guided tours.

Hakan was a fabulous guide. Very knowledgeable and explained the complex history of Turkey in very understandable terms. He was able to answer questions and provide a very clear and balanced perspective of the Turkish people. The various stops were really good and helped us to better understand the layout of Istanbul and be able to navigate it for the rest of our trip. His tips on where to go for traditional foods and things to consider when visiting the Blue Mosque were much appreciated. I would highly recommend this three hour informative tour of the old city!

This was hands down the highlight of my trip so far! I booked this, but if there aren’t enough people it gets rescheduled. Mustafa made a lot of good recommendations and took us to a few different spots. The tour was extremely immersive, and felt so unique compared to the other tours we’ve done. Mustafa was so warm and hospitable, it was truly like being shown around by a friend.
