We had a fantastic experience on this tour, with Akash as our guide. Akash was very friendly, enthusiastic and informative. He made sure everyone found the meeting spot for the start of the tour easily and was responsive via whatsapp. We visited a number of areas where we learnt a lot about the local culture - a great way to start your stay in Varanasi. It's done on a donation basis and is worth paying for. Highly recommend.

This is the tour you are looking for. Akash is a super funny, knowledgeable and energetic guide. He comes from a lineage of guides and it shows, he knows every fun fact and can answer every question, while always finding a quiet spot to escape the hectic nature of the city. Normally being the only person on a walking tour can be a bit awkward but with Akash it was great, was like walking the streets with a friend, pointing out interesting details and providing a depth of knowledge that comes from really living the life in Varanasi!
I was the only person signed up for the day, but the tour wasn't canceled — it still took place, which I really appreciated. Badal wasn’t available, but he sent Akash in his place, a young local from Varanasi who gave me an excellent tour. We visited the main temples as planned. What I liked most about Akash is that he always made sure I understood everything (English is neither his nor my native language), and he shared lots of fascinating details about Hindu culture. Kind, polite, attentive, and thoughtful. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful tour with Akash from GuruWalks, one of two brothers who guide in Varanasi. Akash is a kind, attentive, and calm young man who clearly knows his city well. He gave us great insights into the rituals and ceremonies of Varanasi in a relaxed and friendly way. His English was easy to understand, and we felt very comfortable throughout.
