Muhammad was a truly wonderful guide. His English is perfect. He's intelligent, kind, and good-humored and an excellent communicator who provides enough information and background without overwhelming you with boring facts and figures. Our tour of the mosque was particularly meaningful in that we felt the warmth and community of the place thanks to Muhammad's skillful combination of telling its history while sharing its place in Muslim life today. We could not imagine going through the 5 km of the chaotic market with anyone else. Muhammad's father ran a textile shop in the heart of the market and many of the merchants in the non-tourist portion of the place clearly were friends. We were treated to a glimpse of many different craftsmen at work and came to know the difference between the "real thing" and a cheap overpriced knockoff. There was no hard sell involved and the beautiful things we bought were at fair prices and sold to us with warmth and a sense of fun. The tour was an amazing highlight of our trip from the calm beauty of the mosque to the sights, smells, and sounds of the seemingly endless market. We were also grateful for his understanding when we let him know by text that we were running late due to being stuck in traffic. Take a tour with Muhammad!
El tour es genial! Igual empezar ligeramente más temprano para tener oportunidad de visitar la mezquita. Pero los lugares por los que nos llevó, en el momento indicado nos permitió apreciar en su punto más bonito con el folclor del mercado y sus distintas zonas sin ser abrumador. Pudimos apreciar la cultura y nos llevó a los mejores sitios para hacer shopping post-tour!
