I joined the free walking tour in the Gion district with Saurabh, and it was an incredible experience! He gave us a deep dive into the world of the geiko and maiko, sharing fascinating insights into their history, traditions, and daily life. Saurabh was extremely passionate and knowledgeable, and his storytelling made everything come alive. He managed a large group with ease, communicated clearly, and kept everyone engaged the whole time. I even got lucky enough to spot six geiko or maiko during the walk — an unforgettable experience! I learned so much about Gion and its cultural significance — definitely one of the most informative and captivating tours I’ve ever done. Highly recommend!
This was a fast paced tour but Saurabh always stopped and checked to see that everyone was there. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We were lucky to see both Maiko and Geiko on this tour.
Miguel provided a very interesting and informative tour. We had no prior knowledge of Japan’s geisha and maiko culture and history. Highly recommended for anyone interested in the topic.
