Night Tour and Meenakshi Temple Ceremony

As night approaches, the extraordinary "Night Ceremony" at the Sri Meenakshi Temple rises. Every night, the image of Shiva is taken from his sanctuary to join his consort Parvati, elsewhere in the temple. This ceremony can be chaotic and noisy, but it is not to be missed if you travel to Madurai. Each morning, the image of Shiva returns to his own resting place. We will start at the east entrance of the temple and witness the traditional Aarti ceremony that takes place every night at dusk. The experience wonderfully highlights the local culture and religion, in an effort by the participants to find peace. Note: * Non-Hindus cannot enter the main sanctuary area of the Temple, but they can witness the ceremony from outside. * The start time of the ceremony is not precise. It depends on the number of people, temple festivals, and the movements of the Hindu astrological constellations. Dress code: * Full-length pants and a shirt with sleeves are required. People wearing shorts/sleeveless shirts are not allowed inside the temple. * Cigarettes, lighters, matchboxes, tobacco, chewing gum, cosmetic items cannot enter the temple. A water bottle, a small handbag can be carried into the temple. * Photos/videos are prohibited within the temple premises. Exclusions: * Temple entry. * Tips for the guide
