Baeza Free Tour: "Land of Renaissance" (+ EVOO Tasting)
Tour description
Hello everyone!!!
I am Josué and I welcome you to this charming city in the La Loma region, located in the heart of the province of Jaén .
On this fantastic tour you will have the opportunity to discover how Baeza , declared a World Heritage City by UNESCO in 2003, became one of the greatest examples of the Spanish Renaissance of the 16th century thanks to the patronage exercised by some of the most important noble families who settled in this city and who contributed to beautify every corner with sumptuous buildings such as the Jabalquinto Palace , public infrastructures with clear Castilian reminiscences such as the Plaza del Pópulo or the Paseo de la Constitución that show us the great economic boom that the city achieved at this time, with the intervention of such important architects as the architect Andrés de Vandelvira , in charge of the Renaissance restoration of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Nativity, located in the heart of the historic center.
This tour will consist of the following stops:
- Tower of the Aliatares.
- Constitution Walk (Constitution Fountain, Alhóndiga, Lower Town Hall and Triumph Fountain).
- Former University of Baeza (University and Arch of the Barbudo).
- Plaza de la Santa Cruz (Church of the Sta. Cruz and Jabalquinto Palace).
- Plaza de Sta. María (Cathedral, Upper Town Hall, Fountain of Sta. María and Seminary of San Felipe Neri).
- Alleys of the Cathedral (Gate of Forgiveness).
- Plaza del Pópulo (Lion Fountain, Old Butcher Shops, Civil Court and Notaries, Villalar Arch and Jaén Gate).
And to top off the experience, at the end of our tour, we'll have the opportunity to delight in tasting an exquisite EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) at the "Tierra de Renacimiento" establishment. In addition to enjoying its great flavor, we'll be able to learn about the production process and the benefits of regular consumption.
